The region of Guanacaste, Guayabo & Bagases
The province Guanacaste is located in the northwestern part of Costa Rica, along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. To the east is the Alajuela Province, and to the southeast is the Puntarenas Province.
The province has an economic and cultural heritage based on beef cattle ranching and agricultural products such as sugar cane and cotton. Today tourism has emerged as the new and growing activity in the local economy. The combination of beautiful beaches and the sun-drenched dry season that coincides with the winter months in northern latitudes have made tourism the most lucrative revenue. A lot of tourists are also attracted by the abundance of natural beauty. The Province has no less than seven national parks like Santa Rosa, Guanacaste and Rincon de la Vieja National Park.
Guanacaste's climate and culture are unique among Costa Rican provinces. The province experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April. Tourists seek out this dry heat during the North American winter to enjoy the breathtaking Guanacastecan beaches. From May to October, the climate is similar to that of San José, consisting of showers daily and moderate temperatures. Guanacaste is, however, considerably warmer than provinces residing in higher elevations.
Liberia is the regional hub of the Costa Rican northwest. The city center features a modern church, as many Costa Rican towns do, facing a plaza surrounded by locally-owned shops and restaurants. Liberia is also home to an expo that takes place in the month of July, celebrating the annexation of Guanacaste Province on 25 July 1824.
Tourists pass through Liberia en route to Pacific Coast beaches such as Playa del Coco, Playa Hermosa, or the Papagayo peninsula. An African safari attraction called "Africa Mia" is nearby. The Museo de Sabanero is also located in Liberia.
The International Airport of Liberia is six kilometers (four miles) west of the city, following the road to Nicoya. This is the second international airport in the country, after the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, and serves a variety of cities in the United States and Canada, as well as many European countries.
Our lands are located at the south border of Rincón de la Vieja National Park, in the town San Jeorge. It takes only 25 minutes drive to get to Liberia and 35 minutes drive to get to Liberia International Airport.
San Jeorge is a small town on the mountains of Guanacaste, situated to the northeast of Liberia, next to the south entrance of Rincón de la Vieja National Park. In San Jeorge there are few attractions and restaurants that are open every day.
From our lands in San Jeorge there is direct entrance to Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Volcanic hot springs, bubbling clay pots, and numerous waterfalls and rivers may be found along the park's many kilometers of hiking trails.
